Why density decides your rate
LTL carriers price freight by class, and for most freight the class is set by density, the weight of your shipment divided by the space it takes up (pounds per cubic foot). Denser freight is cheaper to ship per pound because it uses trailer space efficiently.
Getting the density right up front means a more accurate quote and fewer reclassification adjustments after pickup. Measure the palletized footprint, including the pallet, and use the real shipping weight.
